ADULTHOOD IS A SCAM

Have you ever had a kid smile at you? It's one of the purest and most beautiful things in the world. It's like a tranquilizer with no side effects.

The row of missing teeth and a pink little tongue are the secret ingredients in that gentle smile that sweeps you off your feet.

Everybody loves you, they overwhelm you with affection, they give you all the attention in the world and every day comes with a sprinkle of rainbow.

Those were the easy and carefree days. Now, you're all grown up and things are no longer the same, even your own mama don't wanna kiss you no more, and your siblings? They're the worst, right?

You've had a few rejections and all of a sudden people’s opinions give you sleepless nights and you’re left wondering, “where did all the attention go?” Even random strangers on social media have tagged you ‘clout chaser' just for airing your opinion, and all of a sudden the world is no longer cupcakes and rainbows, sad isn't it?

As young adults you were told life gets even better as you grow up; you were told stuff like, "grow up so you could have more fun" but I'm sorry to break it to you that this is not exactly true. You see, here things are a lot harder than when you were a kid, and you have to come to terms with the harsh reality that LIFE IS A STRUGGLE. This is where you decide what you wanna be for the rest of your life and you set out to do it.

There are lots of things that make adulthood quite difficult and number one are EXPECTATIONS from family and friends. This can be quite frustrating for young adults. I mean your mum probably wants you to become a lawyer so she could threaten her peers with court and jail term, while your dad maybe wants you to be the first man to discover the planet of the dinosaurs, but you, well, maybe you just wanna be a Ganja planter. How do you tell them to their faces? That's a recipe for disaster if you ask me, and by the way, being a Ganja planter is like a one-way ticket to jail so you might wanna rethink your life choices.

Be it as it may, adulthood has its own benefits. You have the freedom to go wherever you want or do whatever you like and much more, but with great freedom comes great responsibilities. I'm not sure that's how the saying goes but you get the idea.

Too much freedom and a few bad friends sometimes lead to bad choices. Many young adults are addicted to drugs and alcohol, many are depressed, heartbroken, and lost, many have chosen the criminal life, some are ashamed of one thing or the other,...Okay that's enough, let's not make this too depressing.

These are some of the real-life struggles that young adults face every single day and none of these sounds like fun if you ask me.

Now, out of all these challenges, there is one that stands out and is most common amongst young adults. Say hello to BILLS! Yeah, that's right, bills, bills, bills; the number one problem that takes away our peace of mind. Who invented this in the first place? They’re like annoying little monsters that grow into ferocious angry beasts with an insatiable thirst for your peace of mind, constantly trying to tear you apart!

The only way to be free is to settle them, and by that, I mean to pay up with actual money. Now you're forced to get a job, so much for freedom! Unless of course, your parents are very rich, then the concept of this type of struggle would not really apply to you. Except maybe the other parts I mentioned earlier, you know, the parts I skipped because it was kinda depressing? Yeah, those apply to everyone regardless of status.

Adults or kids, at the end of the day, we all face one challenge or the other; from little school bullies, to teenage cheating partners, to mean office bosses, to lousy neighbors and there’s racism which is currently trying to bring the world to its knees.

These challenges though are part of what makes life fun and worth fighting for. The uncertainty and expectancy of what the future holds are some of the things that keep us alive and hoping for a better tomorrow, and the beautiful thing about life is it equips you with the strength to face those challenges. So don't fret, you'll be just fine.

......But seriously, being a kid is way more fun than being an adult, I mean you don't even have to be responsible, and you know why? Because you have no responsibilities! How cool is that?

I'm kidding, but seriously, no one likes

an irresponsible adult.

I'm just saying though.
